Imaginal is a daily inner-work app — a journal, meditation and practice tools, and short teachings. Your inner life is private by design. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
What we collect
- Your journal & practice — the entries you write (dreams, scripting, active imagination, gratitude, shadow work, free reflection), plus any tags, moods, and symbols, and your practice logs and streak. As a guest these live on your device (local storage). If you create an account, they are stored on our server so they sync across your devices — private to you.
- Account email and password, if you sign up. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash — we never see your plaintext password.
- Reminder preferences, if you opt in to a daily reminder (the time you choose, and a push subscription token so the nudge can arrive when the app is closed).
- Payment information, if you subscribe to Premium. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your card number.
- Anonymous, aggregate usage counts (e.g. "an entry was written") with no personal identifiers, IP addresses, or entry content — used only to understand which features are used.
How we use it
- To save your journal and practice, sync them to your account, and show your streak and history.
- To operate your account and process Premium subscriptions.
- To send the daily reminder you opted into. You can turn it off anytime in the app.
- To keep the service reliable and understand feature usage in aggregate.
AI reflections (Premium)
If you ask for an AI reflection on a journal entry, only the text of that entry is sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate the reflection. It is not used to train models, and we don't send your other entries. AI reflections are offered for insight and self-understanding — not medical, psychological, or financial advice.
Third parties we rely on
- Stripe — payment processing for Premium.
- Brevo — sending account emails (verification, password reset).
- Anthropic (Claude) — generating the optional AI reflection, as described above.
- Render — application hosting.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it except as needed to provide these services or where required by law.
Cookies & local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember your journal, preferences, and session. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Your choices & rights
- Delete your account and data at any time in the app (Me → Account → Delete account), which permanently removes your account and all your entries.
- Export your journal anytime (Me → Backup → Export) — it's yours to keep.
- Guest data lives only on your device; clearing your browser storage removes it.
- Request access to or deletion of your data by emailing us (below).
Children
Imaginal is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13.
