We usually imagine the shadow as everything bad we’ve repressed. But Jung was clear that the shadow also holds gold: gifts, vitality, and capacities we disowned because they were inconvenient, unsafe, or “too much”.
Some people bury their anger; others bury their tenderness, their power, or their joy. Recovering these is not indulgence but wholeness — reclaiming energy that was exiled along with the faults.
Ask what strength or aliveness you hid away because it once felt unwelcome.
